UNEX EV is a joint venture between a Thai consortium led by Chatchaval Jiaravanont and Pitak Pruittisarikorn, and the owner of technology from China - the UOTTA brand under the U Power group.
The venture has set a three-year target to expand its network of battery swapping stations to over 1,000 locations nationwide. These stations are intended to support a range of electric mobility solutions, including passenger cars, pickup trucks, commercial trucks, motorcycles, drones, and boats.
The first battery swapping station has recently commenced operations in Phuket Province, managed by Auto Drive EV, the province's largest taxi fleet operator.
Pitak Pruittisarikorn, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and co-founder of UNEX EV, stated that there are plans to sell over 1,000 units of the MG EP model equipped with battery-swapping technology this year.
This initiative is intended to support the expansion of battery swapping stations in collaboration with partners in Phuket and Bangkok.
The company has recently launched the first UOTTA smart mobility platform and battery swapping station in Thailand and Southeast Asia. This facility is located in Mueang District, Phuket Province, and was established in collaboration with Susco Public Company, with support from various government agencies in Phuket. The project is intended to lay the foundation for a comprehensive electric vehicle ecosystem and to promote sustainable transportation.
According to the company, this battery swapping station plays a key role in facilitating the rollout of UNEX EV-MG vehicles equipped with battery swapping capabilities, ensuring immediate real-world application.
UNEX EV is a battery-swapped mobility platform developed for targeted use cases, with the objective of positioning Thailand as a hub for intelligent mobility technology in Southeast Asia and globally. The next phase of the company's strategy includes efforts to attract investment in the electric vehicle industry, with plans to list on the NASDAQ stock exchange within the next two years.
An additional 10 EV battery swapping stations are scheduled to be launched this year, primarily in major provinces such as Phuket and Bangkok.
