BYD to consider electric trucks for local market

BYD appears poised to expand its footprint in the Philippines' commercial vehicle market with the introduction of a fully electric heavy-duty truck, as evidenced by newly released homologation documents from the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has released homologation documents for the all-new Q3, a 10-wheeler electric truck from the Chinese manufacturer.
According to the documents approved by the national land transport authority, the all-new BYD Q3 is equipped with the following powertrain specifications:
- Battery type: Lithium iron phosphate
- Maximum electric power: 697 PS
- Maximum speed: 89 kilometres per hour
- Maximum range: 350 kilometres
- Charging time: 45 minutes (with direct current charging)
Additionally, the LTO confirmed that the BYD Q3 approved for the Philippine market has the following dimensions:
- Overall length: 7,650 millimetres
- Overall width: 2,540 millimetres
- Overall height: 3,250 millimetres
- Wheelbase: 4,600 millimetres
- Ground clearance: 220 millimetres
The all-new BYD Q3 is also equipped with 22.5-inch wheels fitted with 295/80 series tyres.
According to the documentation, the zero-emission heavy-duty truck head is capable of accommodating three occupants - one driver and two passengers. Its net payload capacity is rated at 210 kilograms.
