Chery Sales Indonesia identifies a significant opportunity in the electric vehicle (EV) market for public transportation services, particularly electric taxis.
With high efficiency and low operating costs, electric vehicles are becoming increasingly sought after by transportation service providers in Indonesia.
Budi Darmawan J, Sales Director of Chery Sales Indonesia, stated that the shift towards electric vehicles is already evident in the transportation sector.
"This is certainly a consideration for us as well. The transportation sector is experiencing a shift, with a growing transition towards EVs due to their high efficiency. Operating costs are significantly lower, and taxi service providers have recognised this advantage, prompting them to begin adopting EVs," he stated in Jakarta recently.
According to Budi, the low operational costs of electric vehicles are a key factor attracting transportation service providers.
With the increasing presence of electric taxis, Chery also sees an opportunity to contribute to this market. "Electric vehicles further support lower operating costs. In the future, this market opportunity must be seized, and we are preparing accordingly," he further added.
As EV adoption in Indonesia continues to rise, various automotive brands are formulating strategies to respond to market demands. Chery currently offers several electric vehicle models with the potential to enter the public transportation segment.
There is no further information regarding the specific models Chery intends to introduce to the electric taxi market.
However, with the ongoing expansion of EV infrastructure in Indonesia, the adoption of electric vehicles in public transportation is expected to continue increasing.
