After a prolonged absence from the domestic market, Hyundai's Palisade is returning in its second generation, marking its official re-entry in Taiwan.
In 2024, Hyundai unveiled the new-generation Palisade, featuring a newly developed turbocharged hybrid powertrain.
Following discussions with the manufacturer, Nanyang Industrial formally presented the second-generation Palisade at the Taipei Auto Show media day on 30th December.
Although the new Palisade is available globally with multiple powertrain options - including a 2.5-litre turbo gasoline engine and a 2.5-litre turbocharged hybrid - Nanyang Industrial has confirmed that only the 2.5-litre turbocharged hybrid version will be imported locally.
This configuration employs Hyundai Motor Group's hybrid system, utilising a P1 + P2 dual-motor parallel architecture paired with a 2.5-litre Smartstream T-GDi turbocharged engine and a transmission designed for hybrid applications. The system delivers a combined output of 334 PS.
The front end features a wide radiator grille flanked by vertical LED light clusters on both sides, integrating daytime running lights and turn signals.
When the vehicle is started or shut off, the concealed headlights within the grille illuminate in unison with the slim light bar that stretches across the fascia, forming a specific lighting pattern.
On the inside, it includes Hyundai's dual 12.3-inch curved digital instrument cluster and infotainment display, leather upholstery, and trim materials, resulting in a cabin updated from the previous generation.
The vehicle displayed at the Taipei Auto Show is the Calligraphy trim. The SUV is not expected to enter the market officially until Q2 2026 at the earliest.
In addition to unveiling the Palisade, Nanyang Industrial outlined its product roadmap for the domestic market in 2026.
Following the launch of the Inster pure electric mini car - whose initial allocation has already sold out - the line-up will expand to include the facelifted Staria 1.6-litre turbo Hybrid, the QT800 7.8-ton commercial vehicle, and an all-new locally produced model.
While the specific model was not disclosed at the event, it is widely speculated to be the facelifted Venue.
