Isuzu D-Max launched in India
Isuzu Motors has launched its second offering in India, the D-Max pick-up truck, from Rs. 599,000 (US$ 10,079) ex-showroom, Mumbai.
The company is offering the D-Max in three variants - single-cab, flat-deck version; space-cab, flat-deck version and the more consumer-oriented 'arched-deck space-cab version'.
Being a purely utility vehicle, the basic flat-deck models don't offer too many creature comforts or features. However the top arched deck version does have chrome garnish on the grille, body-coloured bumpers and door handles, power windows, central locking, steering rake adjust, air-conditioning and a day-night rear-view mirror, among other features.
While entry-level variants use a more basic flat bed at the back for storage, the top trim is available only as a 'arched deck', which means the wheel arches intrude into the cargo area.
There are only two doors and two seats on all versions but the 'space cab' variants get additional space behind the seats.
The D-Max is powered by a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder, common rail diesel engine that is good for 134 BHP and 29.57 kgm and comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
Isuzu company claims the D-Max is capable of returning over 1,000 kilometres on a single, 76-litre tank of diesel.
One thing buyers will have to bear in mind is that they will need a commercial vehicle license to drive the Isuzu D-Max, as it cannot be registered as a private passenger vehicle.
Prices:- Flat-deck, single-cab - Rs. 599,000.
Flat-deck, space-cab - Rs. 619,000.
Arched-deck, space-cab - Rs. 709,000.
All prices are ex-showroom, Mumbai.
