Japanese automotive manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors has launched its latest sport utility vehicle (SUV), the all-new Destinator.
According to Mitsubishi Motors President and Chief Executive Officer Takao Kato, this seven-seater SUV is the third global strategic model to debut in Indonesia, following the Xpander crossover MPV and the XForce compact SUV.
"The all-new Destinator will be marketed globally, with a particular focus on the ASEAN region. Our operations in Indonesia are a key pillar of Mitsubishi Motors' business," stated Takao Kato during the launch event held in Jakarta on 17th July 2025.
The all-new Destinator has been introduced in three variants for the Indonesian market: Ultimate, Exceed, and GLS.
It will be produced locally under a completely knocked down (CKD) scheme at the Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia (MMKI) assembly facility in Bekasi Regency, West Java.
The Destinator is equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged MIVEC engine with the code 4B40. The engine is reported to produce a maximum output of 120 kW (163 PS) and a peak torque of 250 Nm.
It uses a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) for front-wheel drive. It includes five selectable driving modes for different road conditions. The model's dimensions are 4,680 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,780 mm in height, with a ground clearance of 214 mm.
In terms of design, the Destinator shares some visual similarities with the XForce, including a horizontal front profile with the Dynamic Shield design concept. The interior includes a three-row seating layout. Standard features include a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch smartphone-linked display audio (SDA), an 8-inch digital driver's display, and Yamaha Premium Dynamic Sound.
The price of the all-new Mitsubishi Destinator has not yet been announced. Sales will officially begin on 23 July 2025 at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025.
