In early July, Mitsubishi briefly showcased a pickup truck in a brand promotional video on its official Taiwan social media page.
Although the vehicle's details were initially unclear, a newly released teaser video has now confirmed its identity - the all-new Triton.
The Triton is a mid-size pickup truck, similar in size to the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux. The video reveals the "Triton" nameplate and shows its front-end design, which includes a large grille and split headlights.
Based on the overseas version, the Triton's interior has a three-dimensional layout and is equipped with a multimedia system that includes a touchscreen of up to 10 inches, as well as smartphone connectivity.
It is powered by a 2.4-litre diesel engine offered in various output configurations. In addition to the double-cab version shown in the teaser, single-cab and 1.5-cab variants are also available in other markets.
However, specific details regarding Taiwan's import models and specifications have yet to be announced.
As a post-credits addition, the teaser briefly shows the front end of Mitsubishi's Xforce SUV. This compact crossover, measuring approximately 4.4 metres in length and intended to compete with models such as the Toyota Yaris Cross, is reported to be the next Mitsubishi model to be introduced locally.
Official details remain limited, with the promotional tagline stating, "about to awaken." Mitsubishi's launch timeline for both the Triton and Xforce has not been confirmed.
