Vietnamese startup Nuen Moto has made headlines with the announcement of its high-performance electric motorcycle, the Nuen N1-S, which is now available for pre-order.

The company is offering two versions: the Founder's Edition and the Signature Edition. The Founder's Edition is the more exclusive variant, with limited units to be produced, and the two versions are priced at VND 180 million and VND 220 million (US$ 7,310 and Us$ 8,940), respectively. These prices place the N1-S in a higher price bracket compared to most electric motorcycles currently on the market.

The N1-S, marketed as the first high-performance electric motorcycle in Vietnam, features an urban scrambler design, combining streamlined aesthetics with off-road capabilities. The bike is slightly larger than other models in its class, with a length of 2,070 mm, a wheelbase of 1,450 mm, ground clearance of 175 mm, and a weight of 165 kg. It comes with 17-inch rims and 120/70 front tires along with 180/55 rear tires, similar to those found on the Honda CB650R and Yamaha XSR700.

For suspension, the Nuen N1-S boasts a front upside-down fork and a rear Monoshock. The Founder's Edition further upgrades to Ohlins forks and Brembo brakes on both the front and rear for enhanced handling and braking performance.

The bike is powered by an electric motor producing a maximum of 32 PS and 190 Nm of torque. It is paired with an 8 kWh battery pack, which Nuen Moto claims is one of the safest in its category, protected by five layers of safety measures including thermal, mechanical, electrical, and software protection, as well as advanced sensor systems.

In terms of performance, the N1-S prototype can cover a distance of up to 200 km per charge at an average speed of 50 km/h. It has a top speed of 130 km/h and supports fast charging from 0% to 80% in 40 minutes (or 0% to 100% in 60 minutes) using a 3-phase DC power supply at its dedicated stations. When using a standard 220V power outlet, the charging time increases to 3 hours for 0-80% and 4.5 hours for a full charge.

Safety features include two-channel ABS brakes, a regenerative braking system, and cruise control. The N1-S also has IP67 water resistance, allowing it to operate in submerged conditions for up to 30 minutes at water levels of 50 cm or less, making it suitable for a variety of weather and road conditions.
