Vietnam's electric two-wheeler sector is expected to expand through a new partnership between Selex Motors and Dong Minh Group, under which Selex Motors will manufacture and supply fixed batteries, battery-swapping services, and home-charging battery rental solutions for Dong Minh Group's dealership network and customers.
On 5th November, electric motorcycle manufacturer Selex Motors and Dong Minh Group signed a cooperation agreement to develop a battery-swapping electric vehicle ecosystem and a shared battery network.
Under the agreement, both parties committed to a long-term partnership across multiple areas, including product development, battery and energy service provision, investment in battery-swapping infrastructure, product and service distribution, and after-sales support.
The agreement includes the development of more than 10,000 batteries and shared battery-swapping stations.
In the initial phase, Selex Motors will support Dong Minh Group in researching and converting its key motorcycle models - Melody Eco, Bull, and Sasuki Eco (008) - to adopt swappable battery and fixed battery technologies. From 2026, the production scale is expected to reach tens of thousands of units per year.
Selex Motors will manage the manufacturing and supply of fixed batteries, provide battery-swapping services, and offer home-charging battery rental options for Dong Minh Group's dealerships and customers.
The company will also assist in converting Dong Minh Group's existing electric vehicles to operate with swappable batteries and integrate them into the shared battery-swapping network, enabling customers to swap batteries at stations and reduce upfront vehicle costs.
According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Phuoc Nguyen, General Director of Selex Motors, "Dong Minh Group has 25 years of experience in the electric vehicle market, while Selex Motors is a young company with specific technologies. The cooperation aims to provide benefits for electric vehicle users."
