In August, information emerged that United Asia Automotive Group Incorporation (UAAGI) had been granted approval to import a light-duty vehicle equipped with a 1,499cc petrol engine.

Since UAAGI was appointed earlier this year as the Philippine distributor of Geely's Radar brand, the company is expected to introduce the RD6, also known as the Horizon pickup truck. Shortly after this announcement, the first batch of Radar RD6/Horizon pickups was observed arriving in the country.

In September, the Department of Energy (DOE) officially recognised three variants of the forthcoming Radar RD6 EM-P plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

While earlier reports suggested that UAAGI might market the model as the Radar Horizon EM-P, the DOE's updated list confirmed that the plug-in hybrid pickup will carry the name Radar RD6 PHEV.

According to the preliminary specifications, the Philippine-market Radar RD6 PHEV will include four-wheel drive as standard and will use the brand's 1.5-litre turbocharged Hybrid Special Engine, named "Thor".

The engine produces 156 PS and 370 Nm of torque and is supported by two electric motors: the front motor generates 218 PS, while the rear motor produces 245 PS.

It is fitted with a 19.09 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery pack. Radar states that the RD6 PHEV has an electric-only range of up to 83 km and a combined hybrid range of 1,000 km.

The model supports both AC and DC fast charging, with AC charging providing up to 6.6 kW and DC charging up to 50 kW.

Charging from 15% to 100% requires about three hours using AC, while DC charging achieves the same in approximately 28 minutes.

The RD6 PHEV measures 5,277 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,880 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,120 mm.

Ground clearance is 225 mm. The vehicle has a payload capacity of 800 kg and a cargo bed measuring 1,525 mm in length, 1,450 mm in width, and 540 mm in height.

Further specifications have not yet been released. With three variants confirmed, the RD6 PHEV is positioned to compete with models such as the BYD Shark 6.

Given the current timeline in the third quarter of 2025, it is likely that UAAGI will launch the model officially before the end of the year.
