Unified Automotive Battery System Indonesia (UABS Indonesia), a subsidiary of the SAIC Group, is an electric car battery manufacturer that has recently established an assembly facility in Cikarang, West Java.

As an initial step, UABS Indonesia will supply batteries for the MG 4 EV and MG ZS EV electric cars starting from 2025.

In the future, the company plans to supply EV batteries to other electric car brands in Indonesia.

Guo Junhua, Managing Director of UABS Indonesia, hopes that more brands will use UABS batteries from factories in Indonesia in the future.

"We bring more affordable electric car batteries and safety solution systems to Indonesia," Junhua explained.

However, the company has not yet revealed which brands will use its batteries.

He also mentioned that UABS is a collaborative venture between SAIC Group and Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL).

"UABS is a joint venture owned by SAIC," Junhua stated.

SAIC Group also owns three car brands in Indonesia: MG, Wuling, and Maxus. While MG uses UABS batteries, Wuling uses batteries from Gotion.

UABS Indonesia occupies 5,000 square metres of land in the SAIC International Industrial Park in Cikarang, West Java, for the plant, which has a production capacity of 20,000 units per year.

The types of batteries produced at this manufacturing facility are lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) batteries, named E1 and E2.

Currently, UABS Indonesia has produced three products at the plant: E1-51 kWh, E2-51 kWh, and E2-64 kWh.
