Volkswagen begins accepting bookings for all-new Tayron
Autocar India, 5 Feb '26
Volkswagen has commenced official pre-bookings for the Tayron 3-row SUV ahead of its price announcement later in February.
Pre-bookings can be made online or at any Volkswagen dealership for Rs. 51,000 (US$ 565). The Tayron will be assembled locally from CKD kits.
Features and specifications
The Tayron is a seven-seater variant of the Tiguan R-Line, which was launched in India in 2025.
Unlike the Tiguan, which is imported fully built, the Tayron will be assembled domestically.
It will be offered in an R-Line trim. Standard equipment includes Matrix LED headlamps, 19-inch alloy wheels, illuminated front and rear Volkswagen logos, a 15-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, three-zone climate control, powered front seats with memory, heating, ventilation and massage functions, a head-up display, ambient lighting, and a powered tailgate.
Seven colour options will be available: dolphin grey metallic, oyster silver metallic, ultraviolet metallic, cipressino green metallic, nightshade blue metallic, grenadilla black metallic and oryx white mother-of-pearl effect.
The Tayron will use the same engine as the Tiguan, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol unit producing 207 PS and 320 Nm of torque. This engine will be paired with a seven-speed DSG gearbox and all-wheel drive as standard.
Volkswagen reports a 0-100 kph acceleration time of 7.3 seconds and a top speed of 224 kph. The Tayron will compete with its platform sibling, the Skoda Kodiaq, as well as the Jeep Meridian and Toyota Fortuner.
