Zelio E-Mobility to launch new electric vehicle plant in Coimbatore

Electric two- and three-wheeler manufacturer Zelio E-Mobility is establishing a new manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, as part of its plan to expand operations in southern India. The plant will focus on the assembly of electric scooters and on storage and logistics activities.
The facility will cover approximately 39,000 square feet and is scheduled to begin operational setup in April 2026, with commercial operations expected to start by July 2026.
According to Kunal Arya, Managing Director of Zelio E-Mobility, the new unit will increase the company's presence in South India, support supply chain management, and facilitate the expansion of its dealer network in the region. The facility is intended to enable timely delivery of the company's electric mobility products and support the use of electric transportation.
The Coimbatore plant will be the company's fourth manufacturing location in India. Zelio currently operates production facilities in Haryana and Odisha. The Ladwa plant in Haryana spans approximately 263,450 square feet, while the Patan plant in the same state covers around 252,301 square feet. The company also operates a facility in Cuttack, Odisha, with an area of roughly 30,500 square feet, supporting production, assembly, and regional operations.
The expansion follows the company's public listing in 2025. Zelio raised Rs. 783.4 million (US$ 8.48 million) through its initial public offering, comprising a fresh issue of Rs. 588.4 million and an offer for sale of 1.14 million shares worth Rs. 155 million. The issue was subscribed approximately 1.5 times, with participation from institutional and retail investors. The company's shares were listed at Rs. 154.90 on 8 October 2025, representing a 13.9% premium over the issue price, and are traded on the BSE SME platform.
In its first reporting cycle following the listing, the company reported consolidated revenue of Rs. 1.34 billion and a profit after tax of Rs. 118.7 million for the first half of FY26.
Zelio manufactures electric two-wheelers under the Zelio brand and electric three-wheelers under the Tanga brand.
Its electric scooter range includes low-speed models such as X Men, X Men 2.0, Gracy i, Gracy+, Gracy Pro, Little Gracy, Eeva, Eeva ZX+, Legender, and the Logix cargo scooter, as well as the high-speed model Mystery. In the three-wheeler segment, the company produces e-rickshaw models including Tanga Butterfly and Tanga Fine.
The company operates a dealer network comprising more than 350 outlets across over 20 states and union territories in India.
