After launching the first-ever CNG-powered Freedom 125 in India, Bajaj Auto is now readying new alternate fuel motorcycles, and the ethanol motorcycle will be the first of them. Rajiv Bajaj, CEO of Bajaj Auto, revealed the developments in an interview with media.
While Rajiv Bajaj has already confirmed one new CNG model every year, he recently disclosed that the company will showcase new ethanol-powered motorcycles and three-wheelers in September, 2024, with a market introduction slated for fiscal year 2025.
The company's broader objective is to achieve 100,000 monthly sales of green energy vehicles by the festive season, and these initiatives are a step towards that goal.
However, it is not clear whether Bajaj will showcase a brand new ethanol-powered model. This could be one of the on-sale models, such as Pulsar, which offers a variety of displacement capacity motorcycles, raging between 125cc to 400cc.
The Freedom 125 CNG has a claimed range of up to 330km. It has already found a large number of buyers. Speaking on which, Rajiv Bajaj said, "We hope to deliver 8,000-9,000 Freedom 125 CNG bikes in August, and by January we will hit the mark of 40,000 CNG motorcycles per month."
