China 2010 auto sales forecast raised to 16 million units

The China Association of Auto Manufacturers (CAAM) has raised its forecast for China's total auto sales for this year to 16 million units.

According to data released on August 9th, auto production and sales in China reached 1.29 million and 1.24 million units respectively in July. Commercial vehicle sales reached 297,800 units in July, down 19.33% over the previous month and passenger vehicles reached 946,200 units July, down 9.27% over the previous month.

Auto production and sales reached 10.2131 million and 10.2602 million units respectively, up 43.64% and 42.65% year-on-year.

The top 10 auto sales companies are: SAIC, Dongfeng Automobile, FAW, Changan Auto, BAW, GAIG, Chery, BYD, Brilliance and JAC. They sold 8.84 million cars from January to July in 2010.
