Maruti Suzuki standardises 6 airbags across four popular models in India
Autocar Professional, 13 May '25
Maruti Suzuki Arena has announced the standardisation of six airbags across four of its models: WagonR, Alto K10, Celerio, and Eeco.
The update, disclosed today, is intended to improve occupant protection and align with broader safety requirements across the country.
The revised safety package includes dual front airbags, side airbags, and curtain airbags, as well as three-point seat belts with reminders for all occupants. These models now align with other Arena vehicles - Swift, Dzire, and Brezza - that already offer six airbags as standard.
Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, stated that the country's changing road infrastructure and increasing vehicle speeds have created a need for additional safety measures. He noted that the inclusion of six airbags in these models is intended to expand the availability of such features across a larger segment of customers.
To inform the public about six-airbag safety systems, the company has introduced a national campaign incorporating activities such as zorbing and bubble football. These are designed to convey the function and purpose of multiple airbags in a vehicle.
Other safety features available on these models include Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Assist, and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), among others.
The updated vehicles are now on sale at authorised Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships across India.
