Suzuki Indonesia previews all-new Celerio, launch set for 2015
LiveLifeDrive, 22 Sep '14
Suzuki Indonesia has previewed the Celerio (known as the Alto in Malaysia) at the 2014 Indonesian International Motor Show. Set to be launched sometime next year, the new model is expected to strengthen the car-maker's presence in the city car segment in Indonesia. At launch, the five-door hatch will be sold as a CBU imported from India. Suzuki Indonesia is also toying with the idea of locally assembling the model. As reported previously, the all-new Celerio will be eventually launched in Malaysia as the successor to the Suzuki Alto, which has been around since 2010. Compared to the 2014 Suzuki Alto in the Malaysian market, the Celerio measures 100mm longer (3,600mm), 70mm taller (1,540mm) and has a 65mm longer wheelbase. The width however remains unchanged. For the Indonesian market, the five-door hatchback will be offered with the familiar 998cc K-Series engine that generates 67hp and 90Nm of torque, as carried over from its predecessor. When launched here in Malaysia, this Japanese A-segmenter will rival cars like the recently launched 2014 Perodua Axia, 2014 Kia Picanto and 2014 Hyundai i10.
