Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced recently that the government would procure 3,000 electric buses over the next two years as part of its strategy to reduce pollution in Hyderabad.
He also highlighted the government's recent initiative to waive registration charges on electric vehicles, underscoring its commitment to combating pollution. Additionally, the government is developing incentives to promote the adoption of electric auto-rickshaws in Hyderabad.
Speaking at the 'Praja Palana Vijayotsavalu' event organised by the state transport department at the Hyderabad metropolitan development authority (HMDA) grounds recently, the Chief Minister stated that the government's free bus travel scheme has benefited over 1.15 billion women in the past 11 months, enabling each to save approximately Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 7,000 (US$ 60 to 80).
He noted that the scheme has significantly contributed to the revival of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGRTC) and has brought relief to RTC workers.
"The contribution of RTC workers to the achievement of Telangana state is commendable. As Chief Ministers of Telangana, including KCR, it is our duty to honour the aspirations of RTC and transport workers," Revanth Reddy stated.
He further remarked, "To fulfil the goals of Telangana martyrs, the government has filled 55,000 jobs in just one year. Has there been any other state in the country with a history of providing so many jobs in a single year?"
