Hariphil Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Volvo Cars in the Philippines, has launched the ES90 Ultra BEV and the EX90 Ultra BEV in the country.
Positioned as next-generation flagship models, both vehicles are equipped with updated safety systems, digital features and passenger comfort technologies.
ES90 Ultra BEV
The ES90 Ultra BEV sedan features an aerodynamic body with a drag coefficient of 0.25 Cd, complemented by a flat underchassis. Exterior elements include flush door handles and a Front Shield that replaces the traditional grille and integrates radar, ultrasonic sensors and cameras for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). An automatic spoiler shutter located on the lower fascia assists in cooling the high-voltage battery and operates automatically.
Inside, the cabin follows Volvo's Scandinavian design approach and includes a panoramic electrochromic roof. The vehicle is equipped with power-adjustable, ventilated and heated front seats with a massage function, as well as reclining and ventilated rear passenger seats. A four-zone climate control system is also included.
The ES90 Ultra BEV utilises an 800-volt architecture to enable faster DC charging. Based on the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP), it offers a driving range of up to 700 kilometres.
In terms of safety, the ES90 is fitted with seven cameras, five radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors. Its Next-Generation Pilot Assist system provides Lane Keeping, Adaptive Cruise Control and Navigation Support functions.
EX90 Ultra BEV
The EX90 Ultra BEV is a seven-seat SUV designed for family use. It features flat-floor architecture, FSC-certified backlit wood décor and sustainable interior materials. The vehicle offers individually adjustable first- and second-row seats, cinema-style seating, power-folding rear seats and a functional third row.
Additional features include USB-C connectivity across all rows, advanced LED interior lighting, four-zone climate control and PM2.5 air purification.
The EX90 Ultra BEV is powered by a twin-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 300 kW (462 PS) and 770 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 180 km/h. The SUV offers a WLTP-certified range of up to approximately 624 kilometres from its 111 kWh battery. It supports DC fast charging of 10-80% in around 22 minutes at up to 350 kW and has a towing capacity of up to 2,200 kg.
The model is equipped with Volvo's Safe Space Technology, which integrates eight high-resolution cameras, five radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors and a Driver Understanding System to provide a 360-degree view of the surroundings.
"With the launch of the ES90 Ultra BEV and EX90 Ultra BEV, we are introducing not only Volvo's next-generation electric vehicles in the Philippines, but also the principle of shaping a future that values safety and responsibility," said Maria Fe Perez-Agudo, Vice Chairman, President and CEO of HARI.
